Will - 4 months old

Our little guys are 4 months old now! I will be doing their month posts separately from now on, because well, they are separate people after all. I haven't read much about raising twins without screwing them up, but one thing I have read is that its important to treat them as individuals. Here goes...

Will is our little chunk! Now that he is feeling better, he is so much happier. I was beginning to think that he was a very serious little boy because he didn't smile too much. However, in the last week or so, he has been smiling so much and even starting to laugh. His laugh sounds more like a grunt or a cough though and you have to work pretty hard to get him to do it. He is still an observer though, but at least now he sometimes smiles while watching. He likes to watch the dogs or his sisters play.

When he is carried, he is always turning out to see where we are going and who he might see. When I leave the room, he almost always cries out or begins to scream hysterically. I think he's kinda a momma's boy! Grandpop calls "Iron Will".

When Will sees his brother, he stares in wide-eyed wonder and smirks a little. When they lay next to each other, he grabs Travis's hand and either holds it or pulls it to his mouth. While we were in the hospital, he really began to use his hands to play with toys.

At his 4 month well check, Will was 25" long (51%) and 17 lb 10 oz (90%). So with those kind of numbers, you can see why we call him a chunk!

Here he is the night he first got sick with croup cough. Joe bundled him up so I could walk him around in the 32 degree weather. This is the only thing that worked to him breathe better. He sure doesn't look sick!

A common expression...

Travis - 4 months

Our little social butterfly is 4 months old now. For the most part, Travis is really fun to be around. He is quick to smile and giggle at everyone, especially his sisters. Travis also searches for his brother and almost always cracks a smile when he recognizes him. Emily seems to have a special bond to him, she is always asking to hold him or trying to make him laugh. She and mommy call him Trav and Uncle Eric calls him T-Rey.

As cute as Travis can be, when he is mad, boy is he mad. He can be hard to settle down and likes to be held certain ways. And you can forget about giving him a pacifier when he's upset. The only time he will take it is just before he falls asleep.

Last month, Travis was sleeping really well. He would give me 2 long stretches during the night. Since he has been congested, he's only been sleeping for 2.5 hr stretches. Now, the congestion is gone, but the long sleep has not returned. Honestly, its killing me. Good thing he is so cute and quick to smile at me!

At his 4 month well check, Travis was the size of the average 4 month old boy. Its crazy, we've never had an average size baby at this age. He was 25" long (51%) and 14 lb 12 oz (48%). He has caught up to Will in length! His percentile's went down this month but he was also sick the whole month. I've been a little concerned about my milk supply and also his latch. But, maybe he's just meant to be a smaller person or have a different growth pattern than the rest of the kiddos. I guess only time will tell.

Will and Travis together

Here is a short video of the twins interacting. It started out with Travis talking to Will and Will smiling right back at him. By the time I got the camera out, Travis was downright laughing at his brother. Don't know what they were saying, but they sure enjoyed it. The video is bumpy b/c I was trying to hold Travis and record at the same time - not easy.
